Ksd File Extension

After you choose a video or image to be hidden, KeepSafe appends a string of numbers preceding the filename and the KSD extension on to the end of the file. The extension hides the file from being recognized as the file it really is, such as a.JPG file, and prevents the device from showing the file. If you don't know how to set the.keepsafe file association, check the FAQ. Can I change the extension of files? Changing the filename extension of a file is not a good idea. When you change a file's extension, you change the way programs on your computer read the file. The problem is, changing the file extension does not change the file format. If the user already has one of the applications installed, the next step will be to associate it with the file extension KSD. This can be done in two ways - one is to manually edit the Windows Registry and HKEYCLASSESROOTkeys. The second way is simpler and definitely recommended for less advanced users.

How to open file with .KSD extension?

If the .KSD file is known to your system, it is possible to open it by double clicking the mouse or pressing ENTER. This operation will start applications associated with the .KSD file installed on your system. If the system encounters a file for the first time and there are no relevant associations, the action will end with a system’s proposal to find the appropriate software on your computer or in the Internet.

Sometimes it happens that the files of the .KSD type a wrong program is assigned. This can sometimes be the result of the action of hostile programs such as viruses and malware, but most often it is the result of an incorrect association of an application with the .KSD file extension. If, during the operation of a new type of .KSD files, we will indicate to the system a wrong program, the system will erroneously suggest its use every time it encounters this type of file. In this case, try to re-select the appropriate application. Right-click on the .KSD file, and then select from the menu the option 'Open With ...' and 'Choose default program' . Now select one of the installed application from the list above and try again.

.KSD File Association 2

Security file created by KeepSafe, a mobile application that enables you to 'lock' or 'hide' your images and video; contains a video or image that is hidden from the user until the appropriate pin is entered.

Locked files are contained in the following directory:

KeepSafeDocumentsMedia[Album Name - default album is Safe Roll]

After you choose a video or image to be hidden, KeepSafe appends a string of numbers preceding the filename and the KSD extension on to the end of the file. The extension hides the file from being recognized as the file it really is, such as a .JPG file, and prevents the device from showing the file.

For example, KeepSafe may save an image file as 4743615774357373042.IMG_1247.JPG.KSD. The '4743615774357373042' is a random string of numbers generated by KeepSafe and 'KSD' is the extension added by the program.

NOTE: The KSD extension replaced the .HID extension in 2013.
